Travelrobe Is Recommending A Birmingham airport hotel with parking This Holiday Season

The current Crowne Plaza logoImage via Wikipedia

The Airport Parking Hotels and Lounges site Travelrobe is recommending a
Birmingham airport hotel with parking this holiday season, noting that this is the time of year when excess is never too much and that a bit of pampering is well deserved.

Having gone through a year like 2009 where not just Britain but the whole world witness a financial meltdown in almost every economy. Tis the time to be merry and what better way than the privilege of spending the night before a flight at a Birmingham airport hotel with parking .

Lots of hotels around airports are preparing to celebrate the Holiday season by offering joiner parties where individuals and or companies join others to have their yearend parties, and if you’ve decided to travel around that time you can book with a hotel to join the party with a Birmingham airport hotel with parking .

For others, peace and quiet might be what the doctor ordered and a Birmingham airport hotel with parking  before an early morning flight is an option to be considered, prebooking can save customers money on any of the options that is presented by www.travelrobe.org.

Mark Felix Travelrobe MD said in a statement recently, that not many people realize how convenient a hotel with parking is before a flight, and if they can afford it they should this holiday season.

Airport hotels all offer transfers to and from the hotel and airport. You can also book an airport hotel for the night of your return and still take advantage of the parking offers available. Some of the hotels offered by www.travelrobe.org include Crowne Plaza, Sheraton, Marriott, Holiday Inn, Hilton plus many other fine hotels which travelers can choose at any UK airport.

As one of the world's busiest airports Heathrow in particular has a range of Luxury to Budget hotels with parking that are conveniently located and offers both business and leisure travelers all the comforts and conveniences one would expect from quality airport hotels with parking and much more.

This holiday season the majority of airport hotels with parking will have reduced rates compared to previous years and it’s all due to the current financial crisis that everyone has endured in 2009, so if it’s visible and convenient customers should take advantage of a Birmingham airport hotel with parking  presented by www.travelrobe.org this holiday season.

Birmingham Airport Car Park Facilities Provide Competitive Range

Suface Parking LotImage by Zach K via Flickr
Birmingham airport car park facilities provide a competitive range of options at prices which don't restrict which you choose. With two major terminals helping 40 separate airlines operate, and serving 9 million passengers a year, this is an airport which has seen a great deal of development in recent years, and is continuing to expand. The parking facilities reflect this expansion, and whilst still very competitive are very much as you would expect from a major airport of this size.

There are five separate parking options from which you can choose at Birmingham airport, and these include short stay parking, medium stay or multi-story parking, long stay parking, valet services and hotel parking. Which option you choose is based on a combination of convenience and cost.
The short stay parking is ideal if you're only staying at the airport for up to 2 hours. Prices for the short stay car park at Birmingham airport start at just £1.20 for the first half hour, which is significantly cheaper than many of the major airports.

For longer stays you have a number of choices, and the multi-story medium stay car parks might be worth considering. These start at £2.60 per hour and although they offer the convenience of allowing you to simply turn up and park, they can prove to be expensive for extended stays. If you're staying longer than a day or two you would be better off choosing the long stay car parks, valet car parks or even the hotel options.

You are also going to be considerably better off if you have the ability to book in advance. Pre-booking 90 days in advance can result in long stay rates of just £2.99 per day! This is far cheaper than most other airports, and is well worth considering if you have the ability to plan three months in advance. As far as Birmingham airport car park facilities go, it's certainly the cheapest option.

There are six different long stay car parks run by a number of operators. Although these are further away, they represent the cheapest possible rates. A free bus service is provided from each of the long stay car parks, and this runs approximately every 12 minutes, and runs 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The closest off-airport long stay car park is Birmingham Airparks Service and is 4.5 miles from the terminal.

The Birmingham Airport Long Stay car park 1 is on site, and a free bus service runs every 5 minutes. Disabled places are available, but you will need to book in advance in order to guarantee that you will be able to reserve one of these. Another long stay option is the Birmingham APH which is off site and approximately 15 minutes' bus journey away. This car park holds the AA/Police Gold Award for security and includes high security fencing, CCTV monitored 24 hours a day and guards on duty 24 hours a day.

Prices for most of the long stay car parks are about 60% cheaper if you can book in advance, and the rate of £2.99 per day is the best long stay rate available. This is only available however if you book 90 days in advance and for a period of at least one week.

Although these car parks offer very discounted and highly competitive rates, there are further options to consider because sometimes it isn't just about the price. When you arrive at an airport sometimes for a little extra the convenience of not having to worry about parking your car, or of finding it again at the end of your trip, is worth a great deal.

If you have a lot of heavy or awkward luggage, or you have elderly or disabled passengers, or perhaps a number of children, you don't want the hassle of parking miles from the airport, catching a bus and then finding your way through to the terminal. Just getting your passengers and luggage from the car to the bus stop, on and off the bus and then through to the terminal can start to make your vacation seem more like hard work. If this is the case you would do well to consider the valet service available as one of the more convenient Birmingham airport car park facilities.

Imagine driving right up to the terminal, meeting your chauffeur who will then help you unload your passengers and luggage, and drive your car away for you, parking it in a secure compound while you are away. On your return your chauffeur will bring your car to you, right up to the terminal, minimizing any worry or hassle about parking, finding your car or getting to or from the terminal. Although slightly more expensive, this does represent the easiest possible option, and as far as Birmingham airport car park facilities go, it can't be beaten when it comes to peace of mind and enjoying your trip.

Birmingham named Top UK Business Destination

Birmingham named Top UK Business Destination
Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Birmingham is the most popular place in the UK for businesses travellers to stay, according to serviced apartment company SACO. Figures released by the company show that more business travellers stayed in Birmingham than at any of its 12 other locations across the UK throughout 2008. The city beat other popular business travel destinations such as London, Bristol, Farnborough and Reading. Bookings at SACO across all its locations were up last year from 2007 by 35 per cent to 10,807 bookings and 18 per cent of these were for Birmingham bookings.

Jennie Buckley, apartments manager at SACO in Birmingham, said: “As the ‘second city’, Birmingham has a varied economy with all the infrastructure to support it, helping to create a thriving business travel industry. For example, it has the second largest airport in the UK outside London and is at the hub of the UK’s road and rail network.

“As businesses look to cut back on their travel budgets, serviced apartments are an attractive option – for the same price as a hotel of an equivalent standard, guests get a lot more space and privacy and are ideal if more than one person is travelling as we have a wide choice of two-bedroom apartments. They also allow guests to save money on expensive restaurant bills and extra hotel charges.”

SACO has 54 serviced apartments in Birmingham at Edgbaston and Brindleyplace. Each apartment comes with a fully equipped kitchen allowing guests to cook for themselves. Guests can stay for any length of time - from one night to one year or more.

SACO has 18 locations in total across 12 towns and cities in the UK. It also has a global network of 12,000 apartments across 35 countries, which are owned by other serviced apartment providers.

Birmingham Airport History

UK's Fifth largest airport
Home to over 50 airlines
2 Terminals
9 million passengers a year

Birmingham airport was first opened in 1939. It was owned by the city council as a municipal airport and designed to meet the needs of the local residents and the industry of Birmingham city and the surrounding areas.

During wartime the Air Ministry took over and developed the site, building two hard runways. In 1946 the airport reopened and civil flights recommenced. By 1954 there were services to Dublin, Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Jersey but the length of the runways restricted the use of larger aircrafts.

The expansion of the main runway in 1966 led to an increased number of jets using the airport and the need for expansion became evident as international flights became available. The opening of the National Exhibition Centre just minutes away helped promote the airport in the late 1970's and in May 1984 the Main Terminal was opened by The Queen giving opportunity for more routes and an increase of passengers using Birmingham Airport.

Further development of the main runway helped attract scheduled flights to the USA and charter flights further afield to destinations such as the Dominican Republic and Mexico.

To accommodate such expansion a second terminal was opened in 1991. The Eurohub was to be used by British Airways and its partners and be the first terminal in the world to combine domestic and international passengers. Passenger numbers continued to increase annually as did development to both terminals and facilities. The year 2002 saw 8 million passengers pass through the airport, an increase of 2.8% from the previous year. Numbers continued to rise and in 2003, 9 million passengers passed through.

Today Birmingham International Airport is the UK's 5th largest airport, the 2nd outside London and was voted 'Best UK Business Airport' in 2003. There are over 50 airlines flying to over 100 destinations. The airport has superb road and rail links, great facilities and there is ongoing improvement and development.

Birmingham airport strike threat

13 October, 2005

Security, fire and maintenance workers are threatening to strike at Birmingham airport following the dismissal of two colleagues.

The Amicus union, which represents more than 200 staff at Birmingham, claims industrial will shut the airport.

A pre-Christmas strike is possible if the union carries out its threat to ballot for industrial action in the next two months.

Amicus is preparing the ballot after disputing three allegations made against two men suspended by the airport.

The two workers are accused of unauthorised absence, falsification of records and breaches of trust and security, the union says.

Amicus described the allegations as being “completely without foundation” with officer Peter Coulson saying: “We will be looking to conduct an industrial action ballot in the next week”.
